Convert Knitted Fabric Need from Kg to Meter

Updated: Jun 4, 2021

You can convert material requirement kilogram to meters furnished you have the vital statistics for the calculation. You want to understand following parameters for the given fabric.

  • Fabric width

  • Fabric weight per rectangular unit (Normally material weight is represented per rectangular meter in grams. (GSM) )

  • Fabric weight that you desire to convert in meters

The formula to know the approx length of the roll/thān from its weight

The weight of a fabric roll is calculated using this formula

Areas of the fabric roll in open width X weight per square unit

Weight (in gram) = Fabric length (in meter) X fabric width (in meter) X Fabric GSM

Therefore to convert kg to meter use following formula

Fabric size (in meters) = [(Fabric weight in gram)/ (Fabric GSM *Fabric Width in meter)]

Fabric size (in meters) = (Fabric weight * 1000)/(Fabric GSM *Fabric Width in inch * 0.0254)

When weight is transformed into Kg and cloth width is taken in inches

For example, material weight of a roll/ thān is 50 kgs, cloth GSM 250 and cloth width forty six inches (open width).

Therefore, Fabric size = (50*1000)/(250*46*0.0254) = 171.17 Meters

Note: The above formulation will provide you an approx size of the cloth roll as a density of the material all through the roll size may also change. Secondly, if you encompass extra than one roll in the calculation, the width of the cloth may additionally additionally differ roll to roll.

I hope this will assist you in your work. Thanks for learning with Garment Technology
