HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS ON DRESS FORM FOR DRAFTING BACK WAIST SLOPER?

BACK WAISTLINE

Measure from center back seam over center of waistline tape to underarm seam plus 1/4'' (0.64cm) for ease.

SHOULDER BLADE

Measure from neckline at center back seam down one quarter of back length. Dot, At this point measure across back to armplate.

BACK NECK WIDTH

Use designer 's curve to find position of center back and shoulder on dress form.

Note;- Be sure neckline curve matches established front shoulder and neck point.

BACK WIDTH

Measure from new underarm seam dot ( as illustrated) to center back plus ease (see figure variation below):

1'' (2.54cm) for flat back

2. 3/4'' (1.91cm) for semi rounded back.

3. 1/2'' (1.27cm) for full rounded back.

BACK LENGTH

Measure fro neckline seam down to center of waistline tape plus 1/8'' (0.32cm) ease. ( Ease for pick-up over shoulder blade. )
